Testimonials

I have had the pleasure of knowing Nicola Murray’s work for around 10 years, acting as an agent selling her prints, and also as a curator and commissioner of her work. During this time I have found her to be enormously committed to her professional practice with an artistic integrity that is second to none. Nicola is a hugely talented artist researcher who successfully delivers high quality engaging work time and time again. I look forward to working with her again in the future.

Nicola made six cyanotype prints of texts written by poet Gerry Loose to accompany cyanotype prints of plants made by patients at Midpark Acute Mental Health Hospital, Dumfries with artist Alex Hamilton. They are now on permanent display in the hospital and are much enjoyed by patients, staff and visitors.

Nicola's work was both precise and sensitive to the ethos of the commission. She was a real pleasure to work with and generous with her time and knowledge. Although the commission didn't take advantage of her creative talent, her technical expertise was evident. Given another opportunity I would very much like to commission Nicola to make her own work for a public space.

I have worked directly with Nicola during the course of a project with students of Illustration, which has required us to regularly use the Print Room facilities at Edinburgh College of Art.

During this time, I have found that Nicola wears her vast knowledge lightly whilst sharing her insights with great skill via hands-on demonstrations and clear advice. She organises the Print Room incredibly well, providing a relaxed and creative space for both students and staff to work and in which to develop ideas.
