Sun Bleached Leaves

During 2010 I began to prepare for my exhibition in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh library. Considering the work involved in preserving the texts and plant specimens in the library led to experimentation with deliberately fugitive works. Pressed leaves, picked from my allotment, were subjected to selective bleaching by sunlight, creating text and images within their form. These 'chlorophyll prints' are formed solely by the action of sun on a leaf. They do not involve any light sensitive emulsions or inks and are unstable in sunlight and fugitive by nature.
