Work Print Series Yield

Yield

I began work on the Yield series in 2003 during a residency at Hospitalfield House in Arbroath. My initial work on this series was inspired in part by a stunning book of cyanotypes held in the Royal Botanic Gardens Library in Edinburgh: British Algae by Anna Atkins (1843-53). Unlike Atkins' work, the photographic images in Yield are not illustrations of actual plants. They are the product of plant growth, digital manipulation and the dark-room alchemy of the cyanotype process itself. Each is a small work of fiction and is named after an Atlantic hurricane.
